About events by gs

We're Luciana & Masumi.

Planner and designer. Wives. And the team behind Events by GS.

We started this company because we believe weddings should reflect real people, not expectations. Our role is to help couples create a wedding that honors who they are, where they come from, and the people they love most.

From the first conversation to the final dance, you'll work directly with both of us. No handoffs. No faceless team. Just real guidance, design that means something, and two people who genuinely care about getting it right.

Why we started Events by GS.

As a queer couple and an immigrant family, we understand how meaningful it is to see your identity, culture, traditions, and relationships reflected authentically. Those things aren't details to add later. They're part of the story from the beginning.

Since 2021, we've planned more than 100 weddings. Today, we bring together planning, design, and hospitality to create celebrations that are personal and connected to the people at their center.

Like many couples, we planned our own wedding while navigating traditions, expectations, family, and the question every couple faces: how do we create something that feels like us?

What started as helping friends and family grew into something bigger. We realized there was room for a different kind of planning experience — one rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and care.

Planner · Hospitality Expert · Problem Solver

Luciana's path to weddings started in restaurants. After moving from Montevideo, Uruguay to New York, she spent years in hospitality — eventually managing a restaurant and then an event venue, where she first fell for the energy of a wedding day.

What turned that spark into a calling was planning her own. In 2018, she learned firsthand how hard it could be to find vendors who were genuinely queer-friendly — and how much it mattered to simply feel seen. That experience shaped the kind of planner she is today.

At Events by GS, she oversees timelines, logistics, and the hundreds of moving pieces that allow a wedding day to unfold with confidence. Couples know her for her calm presence, clear communication, and an ability to anticipate needs before anyone has to ask.

Outside of weddings, she's happiest spending time with family, exploring new places with Masumi, and spoiling Frida and Kahlo.

“People may forget the timeline, but they'll remember how they felt”

Masumi — Creative Director

Designer · Stylist · Stationer

Born and raised in Tokyo, Masumi dreamed of becoming a wedding planner back when she was working in a restaurant there. She took the long way around — studying business and graphic design, then working as an in-house designer at a start-up — before finding her way back to weddings: the perfect blend of design, hospitality, and connection she'd wanted all along.

Today, she leads the creative direction behind Events by GS, helping couples translate their personalities, traditions, and stories into spaces and guest experiences that feel personal rather than trend-driven.

Outside of weddings, you'll usually find her experimenting with paper goods, traveling with Luciana, or hanging out with Frida and Kahlo.

“Good design doesn't tell people who they are. It helps them recognize themselves.”

Frida & Kahlo

The rest of the team.

No studio is complete without them. Frida and Kahlo are our dogs, our daily company, and — depending who you ask — the real heart of Events by GS. They've got nothing to do with your timeline, and everything to do with who we are.

Design that means something. Details pulled from your story, not a template — the kind that could only be yours.

What we believe.

Three things hold true for every wedding we take on.

01 · Real People Over Expectations

No templates. No assumptions. We believe every wedding should reflect the people at its center — not trends, traditions, or anyone else's idea of what it should look like.

02 · One Team, Start to Finish

You'll work directly with both of us, start to finish — no handoffs, no associate teams, no wondering who'll actually show up on the day. Just one team, fully invested.

03 · Hospitality Comes First

Long after the flowers are gone, people remember how they felt. Creating a warm, welcoming experience for you and your guests guides every decision we make.

Let's build something that could only be yours.

Work with us.

We'd love to hear your story.
